Social Program

Opening Reception (June 18, 2006)

Time and location:

5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 18th, 2006
Santa Clara Pl & Bayside Walk, San Diego, CA 92109

Join us for the opening reception for the conference that will be held along the beach of Mission Bay a short walk south from the hotel. This will be between San Jose Pl and Santa Clara Pl at Mission Bay (with parking available at the corner of Santa Clara Pl and Mission Bay).

Afternoon Excursions (June 21, 2006)

The schedule for the conference allows for some time to see local attractions during the afternoon of Wednesday, June 21st. We are fortunate to be in an area of San Diego where there is a lot to do within a short walking distance. Here are a few suggestions for possible activities:

Rent a bike and ride to places like Point Loma, Balboa, or Presido Park
Take a surfing lesson
Boogie board or swimming at the beach
Rent a sailboard or kayak
Rollerblading along 14 miles of bike paths of Mission Bay park

The cost of renting equipment from the hotel will be made available during the conference.

San Diego also has many tourist attractions outside of the Pacific Beach area. If you would like to travel to another part of San Diego, then we suggest that you either rent a car or arrange for a shuttle. The local travel company Cloud 9 Shuttle can take a group of any size to many places in Southern California — and even down to the border with Mexico. To coordinate travel through Cloud 9 Shuttle, call 858-505-4900 or visit the Cloud 9 Shuttle website. The hotel can also help you make transportation arrangements, and it even sells tickets to the following attractions:

Sea World
San Diego Zoo
Wild Animal Park
Balboa Park
Many of San Diego's Fantastic Museums
Old Town San Diego
Presidio Park and Sierra Mission
Point Loma Lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument

The organizing committee will be arranging a group tour to the San Diego Zoo. Details and sign-up will be available at the beginning of the conference.

Banquet (June 22, 2006)

The banquet will be held on the grounds of the hotel along the beach of Mission Bay. Further information will be made available at the conference.
